Lewis&amp;#39; opening essay, &amp;#39;New Learning and New Ignorance&amp;#39;, is full of &amp;#39;a-ha!&amp;#39; moments and an utterly brilliant summation of the ideas at work in the transition from the Medieval to the Early Modern.
